The Costa Dorada comprises ten districts along the Tarragona coast, with more than 70 km of beaches.
Cities such as Tarragona and Reus, inland towns and villages such as Mont-roig and Montbrió, and seaside towns such as Cambrils offer history, art, monuments, nature, sports, tradition and a host of cultural events.
The area around Passeig is perfect for all manner of activities and tourism. Its spectacular beaches offer sailing, diving, windsurfing and water skiing. Inland, horse riding, trekking or mountain biking are great ways to enjoy the countryside.
With over 2000 years of history, the Costa Dorada is a treasure trove of surprises. Roman Tarragona, the former Tarraco Imperial, offers some of the best Roman remains in Europe, with highlights including its famous amphitheatre and fascinating walls. Other highlights include the monasteries of the “Cistercian Route”, which takes you through the mediaeval villages of Santes Creus, Poblet and Vallbona de les Monges.
Then there is the early 20th century modernist architecture of Reus – birthplace of Gaudí – characterised by buildings such as the Casa Navás and the Pere Mata Institute.
The Costa Dorada is also a magnet for those who appreciate good wine, with wine tasting visits in the Priorat district, which produces some of the finest wines in the world today. The area also boasts a rich and varied gastronomic heritage.
